Schools of excellence today focus on improvements in several areas in order to constantly provide their students the best. From keeping their curricula updated, to integrating technology into the teaching learning processes, the list is endless. The teacher being the key element in transacting learning, schools the world over have been keenly working towards several teacher empowerment initiatives.

Having worked with several schools across the country in the area of teacher development, EZ Vidya has found teacher development with emphasis on sustainability to be the need of the hour. Structured opportunities for teachers to reflect and collaborate among themselves, presents the key to developing a framework for sustainable teacher development.

Key Features

Empowerment
To facilitate learning in key areas within the teaching learning process, including aspects such as teaching for understanding, evidences of learning and so on. All these would primarily be aimed at helping teaching move from their current paradigms to that of being a ‘researcher in education’.

Collaboration
To facilitate a process where teachers will collaborate periodically, and employ focussed group discussions in order to collaborate.

Reflection
To be enabled through classroom participation for all teachers in order to have triggered discussions with teachers. Teachers will also be provided with Navchetna journals for them to record their reflections.

Sustenance
To be achieved through creation of systems within the school that will foster and maintain the spirit of continuous improvement.

As partners of WATIS, we have seen EZ Vidya continually enriching its educational endeavours, since 2002. We found Chrysalis and its various components, to be a fitting context for an Action research. We hope to learn and grow along with the Navchetna team.
